2. What is Cause Whiplash Injury
The common cause of a whiplash injury is an auto accident getting hit from the behind or front and cause your head and neck to violently move forward and backwards.
Your neck and joints in the cervical spine are only designed to move so far. When you get into a whiplash injury accident, it causes the head and neck to move beyond the normal range of motion causing injury to the soft tissue structure tendons and ligaments.
3. How to Treat Whiplash Injury
How do you treat a whiplash injury? We treat whiplash injuries with chiropractic care, mainly because the resulting injury causes disc pressure and pinched nerves.
Chiropractic spinal adjustments align the spine helps relieve both those conditions.
4. Will Whiplash Injury Symptoms Return
Will your whiplash injuries and pain come back years later? In a lot of instances it will if you did not have the proper therapy.
If you waited too long to get physical medicine such as chiropractic spinal adjustments, your injuries could heal wrong and come back years afterwards.
5. How Chiropractic Adjustments Relieve Whiplash Injury
How do chiropractic adjustments help relieve whiplash injury? Typically in a whiplash injury you have ligaments and tendons that are strained or torn and you’ll get the misalignment’s of the spine.
Chiropractic adjustments align the spine up correctly so when the ligaments and tendons heal, you heal with a nice straight spine, not a crooked or an abnormal functioning spine.
Call our chiropractic office in Jeffersontown KY to receive chiropractic adjustments for a whiplash injury.
6. Best Whiplash Injury Therapies
Therapies that we use in our office to help relieve whiplash injury would include:
- Ultrasound therapy would help decrease inflammation and scar tissue formation in and around the joints of the neck and muscle tissue.
- We also use electrical muscle stimulation therapy. Muscle stimulation is a mild current used to relive pain, muscle spasms and decrease inflammation.
- Our chiropractic office uses massage therapy for whiplash injuries to help reduce scar tissue formation and muscular swelling.
- In addition we use traction therapy to help relieve a disc bulge or herniation.
- And we also do progressive rehab exercises and stretches to help strengthen the musculature around the injured area to help hold it all together.
So those are some of the therapies we typically do in our office to help you with a whiplash injury. My name is Dr. Neil Langschied and I’m a Chiropractor in Jeffersontown, Kentucky.
7. What Speed Causes Whiplash Injury
At what speed does whiplash occur? Whiplash can occur at any speed even very, very low speeds. And the reason why is because there’s no muscle guarding and because you’re not suspecting the accident.
And there’s three impacts involved in a whiplash injury.
- You have the initial impact of the seat against your back or the impact of you on the dashboard.
- Then you have the continuation of the movement of the brain impacting the inside of the skull.
- Last you have the recoil or whiplash when everything stops and you go back to normal position.
So without muscle guarding and those three impacts, it does not take a very high speed to cause a whiplash injury. If you have suffered a whiplash injury give our chiropractic office in Jeffersontown, Kentucky a call at 267-6444.
