1. After Injury Can I Continue To Play My Sport

Should you continue playing your sport? It’s OK to do it as long as it’s not causing you pain or if there’s not a high chance in re-injury. If you’re having pain during or after you’re done playing, you’ll have a period of time where you’re not going to be able to play your sport.

Should you continue to exercise? It depends on what’s wrong with you and how recent your injury is. Again, if it causes you a lot of pain when you’re doing it or after even after you’re done doing we would recommend to take some time off from your regular exercise routine.

Should you take time off from work? It depends on what’s wrong with you and on how recent of an injury.

The main thing that I consider is it causes you more pain to work or you may have a lot of pain after you’re done working, in those cases that would probably mean that you’re delaying your recovery and it’d be probably be advisable at that point that you’d take some time off.

4. Are X-Rays Needed For Chiropractic Treatment?

Are chiropractic x-rays needed? It depends on what kind of injury you may have, how recent it is, and if you have prior x-rays. We can use those and it depends on what we find on the exam.

If we find certain things wrong with you during the exam and in your history, then we may have to take x-rays.

Can we treat you if you’re pregnant? Chiropractic adjustments do not harm the fetus at all.

We do treat a lot of pregnant women because they can’t take medications because those will harm the fetus or having the possibility.

Chiropractic treatment is very successful in treating back pain of pregnant woman.

Do we take x-rays of children? The general rule, no. The only instances we’re taking x-rays with children is if there’s been major trauma.

Should you stop taking your prescription medication? Well, they can inhibit your ability to heal, but it’s recommended that you go to the doctor who prescribed those medications and ask him if it’s OK to stop taking them.

Should you be taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen or Motrin? Generally, it’s OK to take those things. However you going to realize that those do inhibit your healing process?  So, if you’ve been injured or had a recent injury, it could thwart your recovery process.

Should you be using your brace? In certain cases you should, again it depends on what’s wrong with you and it depends on how recent your injury. In a lot of issues it is good for you to wear a brace where you have to restrict the ability in order to allow the healing process to begin and to make a full recovery.

Should you use ice or heat? It depends on if the injury is recent or if it’s old injury. In acute conditions within the first 72 hours generally, you want to be using ice and after that it is proper to use heat.

Can we use x-rays that had been taking from another facility? Yes, we can. If it’s going to be somewhat recent, they can’t be five years old. They have to be good and clear x-rays that are readable. We can definitely use x-rays from another facility.

Will You Take X-Rays If Pregnant? No, we won’t take x-rays if you’re pregnant. It’s very common for pregnant woman to come into our chiropractic office especially with lower back pain and it seems to be the main problem. We do not have to take x-rays for you in order to treat you.
